Engineering assessment
- Review engineering strategies employed in water-based restoration
- Review operational and cost constraints
A range of options will exist for the restoration of any quarry. Both physical and cost constraints will apply and a pragmatic approach will be necessary to marry the proposed restoration with any on-going operational requirements of the quarry. A degree of flexibility in water level control is needed given the uncertainty which is often involved in predicting final water levels. The level of active versus passive management necessary, along with the on-going maintenance requirements will be major considerations in any proposed scheme.
